( it is hard, when mako is saying things like i like you alongside pulling his hand away and making it seems opposed. dick can't begin to understand all the different ways mako reaches his conclusions, the way he acts like liking him isn't enough, like they could ever ask for anything more from each other. dick doesn't fit the modeled mold of a boyfriend, no. if mako had taken that approach, told him to his face that he wasn't good enough and he didn't want him, it'd be another thing - a simpler thing, that dick would accept and even agree with, but. it seems more like mako ... wants to say yes, take a step in and bump tongues with him, but is just refusing on a strict point that officer mako doesn't deserve to be selfish with himself. this is a body dedicated to the betterment of republic city. this is someone who would never take a day off in his life, if it meant assuring peace in the city.
